On Saturday the 8th of August, COLAB will use the Bear Pit as a space to promote the artwork of local Bristol based artists. We want to celebrate the fact that we support people to make a living out of their creative talents. We’ll be doing this in two ways; painting the boards and holding a market.
Here is all the info for both opportunities – feel free to apply for both a board and a stall but bare in mind you’ll be painting so will need someone else to man the stall whilst doing so. Send all applications or queries to: firstname.lastname@example.org
It will be a great community event; with face painting, free bike rides to Co-LAB and a chance to show your support for local artists! So get involved!
PAINTING A BOARD:
There are 30 boards available to paint in the Bear Pit, in a range of sizes. They will be prepped but you will have to supply your own materials. You will be expected to arrive at 11am to begin painting. Once you have been allocated a board it‘s important that you attend as we only have a limited number. We want art everywhere and no empty spaces so please notify us in advance is you wont be able to make it.
The brief for the boards is: ‘Support Local Artists,’ Interpret this as you wish! We want positive messages pushing the ‘shop local, shop social’ ethos. Think community, creativity, local economy, Bristol’s art scene, makers, do what you love for a living, pay artists etc…
Email email@example.com with your interest in a board and some examples of previous work. This is an opportunity not to be missed, thousands of people walk through the Bear Pit everyday, we‘ll be encouraging you to include your social media and web links, so it’s great exposure for your art as well the chance to be part of something really special!
We will give special preference to our Co-LAB stockists, but don’t hesitate to apply! There will space for 20 stalls. It will cost £8 per stall (£3 towards Bristol City Markets, £5 towards Bear Pit improvement scheme), you will be expected to bring your own table and arrive promptly at 10am to set up, the event will finish at 6pm. All locally made items are welcome! We encourage everything from clothing to jewellery, books, prints, home ware and more. The more the merrier! The only criteria is that your work is created by yourself locally, in and around Bristol!!
Email firstname.lastname@example.org if you are interested in holding a stall. Send over your website and what you plan to sell, plus some photos if you’ve previously had market stalls before (but that’s not necessary!) We can‘t wait to see what you have to offer!
